Norwich City defender Timm Klose has told ESPN that the Canaries snubbed a bid from West Bromwich Albion for his services over the summer.

Klose, 28, only joined Norwich from German side Wolfsburg back in January, and he immediately became a regular under Alex Neil, making ten Premier League appearances.

However, the Swiss international couldn’t prevent Norwich from suffering relegation to the Championship, and he’s started the season with another ten appearances as one of Norwich’s most important players.

The former Nurnberg ace will be a vital player for Norwich this season as they look to win immediate promotion back to the top flight, but the defender has opened up on how he had offers to leave Carrow Road over the summer.

Speaking to ESPN, Klose has revealed that he did actually weigh up his options after Norwich’s relegation, as he knew that he didn’t want to lose his spot in the Switzerland national team.

Klose added that he actually received an offer to immediately return to the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion, but Norwich rejected their offer.

“I weighed up my options,” he said. “I did not want to lose my place in the national team without a fight, but it was also clear that it will be difficult to show what I could do at another club.”

“There were offers, and we looked at the one we received from West Bromwich, but Norwich turned down the offer,” he added.

The Baggies already have a number of players who can play in central defence, such as Jonas Olsson, Gareth McAuley, Jonny Evans, Allan Nyom and Craig Dawson, but Tony Pulis has never been shy when it comes to adding centre backs.

Klose would have fit the bill, but his focus will now be on attempting to win promotion with Norwich – where he could face off against the Baggies.
