Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Joel Veltman from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

According to a recent report in The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Joel Veltman from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
Veltman has been on the books of Ajax his entire professional club football career so far and has a contract with the Dutch giants until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The 25-year-old Netherlands international is a versatile defender who can operate as a right-back or as a centre-back.

This is not the first time that the defender has been linked with Spurs. Back in May 2014, The Telegraph reported of Tottenham and Arsenal’s interested in Veltman, who was watched by scouts from Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United in February 2014, as reported by The Mirror.
Tottenham may not have proceeded with their initial interest in Veltman back in 2014, but the North London outfit would be wise to snap up the defender in the summer transfer window.

Over the past three years, the Dutchman has improved as a footballer and has become better. Veltman has also gained more experience and has become more mature.
This summer is the perfect time for Tottenham to make a move for Veltman. True, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are going strong as ever at centre-back and Kieran Trippier can step up if Kyle Walker leaves in the coming years, but signing a player of Veltman’s quality, versatility and relatively young age will mean that the North London outfit will have signed a player with long-term success in mind.
