Memphis Depay has posted on Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn’s Instagram that ‘it’s time to shine my young king’.
The duo started Holland’s 6-1 World Cup qualifying thrashing of Turkey on Tuesday evening, with Tottenham’s speed machine playing a tad over 60 minutes.
Depay ran riot during the game, as he struck a hat-trick, including a cheeky Panenka penalty in the first half.
It was plain-sailing for the Dutch, who are thriving under Louis Van Gaal’s stewardship.
Bergwijn previously missed out on Holland’s Euro 2020 squad this summer, and perhaps rightly so given the season he had last time out.
But his performances are now being rewarded, as he posted this two-word message on his Instagram.
And in the comments section, Depay simply posted: “Oh, it’s time to shine my young King.” added with a fire emoji.
Things are looking on the up for Bergwijn and he is now starting to showcase why Spurs paid £27 million for his talents (BBC Sport).
There is nothing wrong with having a few setbacks, Depay had just that at Manchester United, but now he has transformed his game.
And there’s no reason why Tottenham’s tricky winger cannot follow suit.
