Jose Enrique has made it clear and stated that midfielder Curtis Jones ‘has to go’ and leave Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool during the summer transfer market.
The former Liverpool left-back clearly feels that Curtis Jones, whose Anfield contract runs out in 2027, isn’t good enough to be part of a team that will take the club forward again.
It has been a frustrating campaign for the 22-year-old, who has played a bit-part role under Klopp, but what’s even more worrying is that he is yet to score or assist this term.

Perhaps Jones’ age will favour him when Klopp clears the decks in the summer, but if he can’t earn minutes for this struggling Liverpool side, then when will he earn those consistent starts?
Forget about the senior players that are ahead of the Anfield academy product, teenage duo Harvey Elliott and Stefan Bajcetic, before his season-ending injury, are now ahead of him in the pecking order.
Nonetheless, this is what Enrique had to say about Curtis Jones’ future when discussing Liverpool’s forthcoming transfer market, as he told his own YouTube channel.
“We definitely need a right-back,” said Enrique. “We definitely need a right-winger, then in midfield, who do we have? Chamberlain and Keita, they are all going.
“No, no, Curtis Jones, it’s his time to go. He has to go. I believe, for the club and him.”

LIVERPOOL’S MIDFIELD
How many players do Liverpool need to bring in this summer? One major signing? A couple of midfielders? Or do FGS need to dig deep in their pockets and sign, at least, three midfield players?
It wouldn’t be a surprise if large proportions of Liverpool fans think that a major refresh is needed because, this isn’t just about starters needing to be brought in, but also back-up players to bulk up the squad.
Whilst the Anfield faithful have belief in Klopp turning things around, the issue isn’t with the man in the dugout, but those running the ship and whether FSG will provide the backing that’s needed.
