The manager of MK Dons has told Tottenham Hotspur’s latest signing how to reach the next level.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson has been speaking about the return of Tottenham Hotspur loanee Dele Alli in comments published by the Milton Keynes Citizen.

The 18-year-old midfielder signed for Spurs from the League One club for £5million in January, but he will spend the rest of this season on loan as he bids to help the Dons earn promotion to the Championship.

Alli has missed the last seven matches through injury but he looks set to return this weekend and Robinson for one cannot wait.

“He’s the best player in the league, I believe,” Robinson said. “If he wants to achieve the goals his ability should allow him to, he now needs to really push on.”

“He needs to keep his feet on the ground but he needs to go into overdrive.”

The recent Tottenham signing has already scored 14 goals and set up an additional five for MK Don this season, and it is that form that would have played a significant role in Spurs’ bid.

There is no doubt Alli is one of the best young players in England right now and there are few better clubs for such talent to develop than Tottenham , who have shown this season just what putting faith in youth can do.

For now Alli will be fully focused on trying to get his loan side promoted; and then he has the task of trying to earn a regular starting spot in the Premier League.
