Aston Villa fans on Twitter believe that Anwar El Ghazi could be heading for the exit door after he was left out of the matchday squad that beat Fulham on Monday night.

This is the first time this season that Dean Smith has snubbed El Ghazi from a matchday squad and it’s not a surprise to the Villa fans given his form of late.

Whilst El Ghazi did score for Villa during their League Cup win at Bristol City, it seems as though academy youngster Jacob Ramsey, who also impressed during that match, was picked ahead of him in the 18.

It was a given that summer signing Bertrand Traore was going to be picked for the Fulham clash and he did make his Premier League debut for Villa during that 3-0 win, along with Ramsey.

From the perspective of the Villa fans, this isn’t looking good for El Ghazi and they feel his time could be up at the club.

El Ghazi has played his best football under Smith, but that was in the Championship and in the play-off final against Derby, where he opened the scoring.

Whilst the versatile winger showed glimpses of his talent last season, he just simply hasn’t been able to add some consistency to his game and his form has gone off a cliff since.

It isn’t a surprise that El Ghazi’s in this situation, but with Villa taking on Stoke City on Thursday, this is an ideal opportunity for the Steve Bruce signing to push his way back into the first-team set-up.
