Adrian Grbic has admitted that ‘the time has come’ for him to take a step forward in his career amid claims that Rangers, Celtic and Crystal Palace want the prolific forward, speaking to La Montagne.
Any hopes Clermont might have had of keeping their 17-goal top scorer appear to be over – thanks largely to the ongoing global health crisis and the LFP’s decision to bring a premature end to the 2019/20 French football season.
Clermont have been denied the chance to continue their promotion push, meaning they will be consigned to another season of second-tier football.
And with clubs all over Europe looking to offer Grbic the chance to leave Ligue 2 behind, it seems only a matter of time before the Austria U21 international is bidding a fond farewell.
“For a footballer, it is normal and logical to try to climb a stage each season. It is normal to want to progress, to play in a higher division. So I think the time has come for me to reach a new level,” said a man labelled the ‘new Juninho’ due to his set-piece prowess.

“Next season will be crucial for the rest of my career. For me, the choice of the championship is not the most important. The most important thing will first be to go to a club – Ligue 1 in France or abroad – where I can play to be able to take a new step.”
Given that Celtic have provided a platform for the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Moussa Dembele, Virgil van Dijk and more in recent times, Parkhead must be a tempting destination for the £9 million-rated Grbic.
