Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus have been linked with Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Matthijs de Ligt, and so have Manchester City, but it seems that Juventus are stepping up their game for the Ajax central defender.
The London Evening Standard claimed last month that Tottenham are interested in signing De Ligt from Ajax in the summer transfer window and have already started discussions with the Dutch giants.

The same publication has also claimed of Premier League champions City’s interest in the Netherlands international central defender.
However, both Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham and Pep Guardiola’s City will have to step up their game, with Juventus reportedly making a smart move.
According to Gianlucadimarzio.com, in the past few says, De Ligt and his agent have been in Turin, visiting the city and Juventus’s infrastructure.

The Serie A champions are clearly very keen on securing the services of the 18-year-old central defender, who could be a long-term successor to Toby Alderweireld.
With Manchester United interested in Alderweireld, as reported by The Mirror, De Ligt could prove to be a brilliant long-term replacement for the Belgium international in the long run.
It is time for Tottenham to step up their pursuit of the Dutch youngster.
