Tottenham Hotspur should hand Toby Alderweireld a new contract.

Alderweireld has been on the books of Tottenham since the summer of 2015 when he joined from Spanish club Atletico Madrid for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £11.4 million.
The 28-year-old defender’s current contract with the North London outfit runs until June 2020, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Talks over a new contract have been going on for a while, as reported by The Daily Mail, but an agreement has yet to be reached.
Alderweireld’s advisor, Stijn Francis, has said that Spurs should either hand the centre-back a new deal or let him leave.
“When you look at Toby’s statistics, they are impressive,” Francis told The Sun.
“Either he deserves an appropriate contract, or else he should be given a transfer. Seven or eight big European clubs are interested in signing him.
“There are not many central defenders around who can play like he can. But these clubs will have to negotiate with Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy.”

According to The London Evening Standard, Alderweireld earns £50,000 per week as salary at Tottenham and wants to double his wage.
Given the performances of the former Ajax star over the past two weeks and his quality, it is time for Tottenham to sort out his contract situation.
Alderweireld is good enough to earn a weekly salary of £100,000, and if Tottenham want to keep hold of one of the best centre-backs in the world, then they must act now and hand him a new deal.
