Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers fans and staff are now owed apologies, both players should do it in order to get back on the pitch again.
It has not been a good transfer window for ‘player power’.
Manchester City emerged victorious, if you will, in their refusal to be held to ransom by the demands of Carlos Tevez and his advisors.
Blackburn Rovers too in the way they kept Christopher Samba.
But there are really no winners in either scenario.
It is now time for all parties involved in the recent acrimonious events to sit down together and try to work things out.
Samba and Tevez could do without acting like babies.
So sure, neither got their dream move, so are they going to sulk about it for the rest of the season?
Both should remember why they became footballers, because they have talents and enjoy the sport.
Think of how many millions of people around the world would love to be in their position.
We think Samba will apologise, he has been at Blackburn such a long time he will not want to see all that time and effort go down the pan if the club are relegated.
How could he look at himself in the mirror knowing he could have helped prevent it and didn’t, and what’s more, who would want to sign him then?
So we think the Samba situation will resolve itself in the next fortnight, but as for Tevez, we are not holding our breath.
This situation has been going on for so long, it really began this time last year, and both sides are so entrenched in their positions.
If Tevez flew back to Manchester, walked into Manchester City’s training complex and said sorry, the team and management staff would likely accept it, and he could play a crucial part in the title run-in.
It could still happen, but the way things are going, both Tevez and Manchester City will end up playing this one out in court, and not on the pitch.
