Wes Foderingham has kept just one clean sheet in his last eight appearances for the Scottish giants, a record that must be substantially better if Rangers are to challenge Old Firm rivals Celtic and Aberdeen in the top three.

However, an impressive performance against Motherwell in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup will have caught the attention of fans and Murty alike.
A number of saves thwarted Motherwell, including a brave point-blank stop that drew a huge round of applause from the Gers fans – but Alwnick could do little about either of Louis Moult’s goals.
Foderingham has always had his critics in the past, with question marks raised over his distribution and clumsiness with the ball at his feet as well as his ability claim the ball from crosses.
In a match where Rangers are expected to win, it could be the ideal time for Murty to hand Alnwick an unexpected start over Foderingham to see what he is really made of in the Scottish Premiership.
