Should Queens Park Rangers sell Steven Caulker in the summer transfer window?
Queens Park Rangers’ 2016-17 season is virtually over. Rangers are not going to relegated to League One, and they are not going to finish in the top six of the Championship.
There are still a few more matches left for QPR this campaign, but it is time for the London outfit to start looking ahead to the 2017-18 season.
One suspects that QPR will decide the futures of a number of players in the summer transfer window. One player that Rangers should be looking to move on is Steven Caulker.
Caulker is a good defender and is still relatively young, but he has not shown enough to suggest that he could be a success at Rangers in the long run.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been on the books of QPR since 2014 when he joined from Cardiff City for a transfer fee reported by The Sun to be worth £8 million, but during his time at Loftus Road, he has been loaned out twice.
The Englishman struggled at Southampton and Liverpool during his loan spells, and has not featured in a Championship game for Rangers since late October due to injury.
Caulker could still be a decent player for QPR next season, but with his contract runnings out in the June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, it would not be a bad idea for the London outfit to part company with him in the summer and get a bit of money.
