Divock Origi has never had a better time to cement his Liverpool place with Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge set to be sold.

Divock Origi is set to be given a lifeline at Liverpool with manager Jurgen Klopp prepared to give the attacker pre-season to impress before deciding on his future, reports the Liverpool Echo.

This is likely to be greeted in positive fashion by Origi, who may have wondered whether he would still be wanted by Klopp after an indifferent year on loan at Wolfsburg in 2017/18.

However, the Reds boss believes that the 23-year-old’s struggles in Germany were partly down to problems at the Volkswagen Arena, with the Belgian playing under three different manager in a campaign that only saw the club avoid relegation from the Bundesliga via the playoffs.

Dominic Solanke, Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson will also have a chance to impress Klopp before loan deals are decided, especially with Roberto Firmino absent as he represents Brazil at the 2018 World Cup.

Origi’s chance to shine

This is a big moment for the forward, who is about to enter his fifth year on the books at Anfield, as Klopp clearly sees plenty in the former Lille man having played him 43 times the season before his loan to Wolfsburg.

Origi’s opportunities are likely to be further boosted by the fact Danny Ings and Daniel Sturridge are both set to leave the Merseyside club this summer – as reported by Goal.

Academy graduate Rhian Brewster will be given a chance in the first team in 2018/19, but with the ability to also play on the wing the Belgium international could easily move ahead of Solanke, Woodburn and Wilson in the pecking order.
