Crystal Palace have bid for Newcastle United target Cenk Tosun, according to reports.

The Turkish striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past six months or so, with Palace showing the most activity it seems.
But the Eagles’ reported bid should spark Newcastle United into action. He’d be a fantastic signing for them.

By virtue of the fact that Newcastle’s three strikers – Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Aleksandar Mitrovic – have contributed seven goals between them, you could easily argue that Rafael Benitez desperately needs a top-class marksman in January.
With the Magpies 18th in the Premier League table, their season could hinge on it.

If Palace get him, it would suggest that he was there for the taking for United, who are a much bigger club, and Benitez could and should kick himself if he sets the Premier League alight from London rather than Tyneside.
Fans of the St James’s Park club would be irate if that scenario materialises and it’s certainly plausible for him to succeed in the Premier League.
Tosun has eight goals in 12 starts for Besiktas and even though the standard in Turkey isn’t comparable to that in England, his four goals in five Champions League games – three against Monaco, one against Porto – suggest that he can score against stellar sides.
