Xherdan Shaqiri reportedly wants to leave Stoke for a Premier League club and is available for £13.5m, so should Liverpool seriously consider him?
It seems as if Xherdan Shaqiri’s time at Stoke City is quickly coming to an end as the forward admits that he will be leaving this summer.
“It is no secret that I will leave the club,” Shaqiri told Swiss publication Aargauer Zeitung.
“I think the [Premier] league is perfect for me.
“I would love to stay in England but I don’t want to rule anything out. It’s the best league with the best players.”
The Stoke Sentinel reports that Shaqiri is available to sign for the relatively low fee of £13.5m due to a relegation release clause written into the 26-year-old’s contract.
Where will he go?
TEAMTalk claims that Crystal Palace, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have all shown interest in the Switzerland international.
Yet could Shaqiri be exactly the sort of player Liverpool need to bolster their squad as they continue to improve under manager Jurgen Klopp?
There were few better attacking trios than Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and PFA player of the year Mohamed Salah in European football this season.
However, cover for the three was limited for the Reds and Shaqiri could be the perfect player to provide both that and competition for a starting place.
