The January signing hasn’t kicked a ball for Aston Villa in a competitive game yet.

Well, Aston Villa have had better starts to a Premier League season.
Dean Smith’s newly-promoted side have been given an insight into just how tough it’ll be for them this season, despite spending over £100 million on transfers this summer.
Aston Villa have lost both of their opening games – a 3-1 defeat at Tottenham, a game where the Villans led until 73 minutes in North London, and Saturday’s 2-1 reverse at home to Bournemouth.
It’s time for Smith to change things up a little and introducing Frederic Guilbert for Friday’s visit of Everton might be a good place to start.
Ahmed Elmohamady didn’t cover himself in glory against the Cherries and it’s time for the French right-back to be given a chance.
Smith signed Guilbert back in January for £5 million [Birmingham Mail], but he only arrived this summer.
He is yet to even make the bench for a Premier League game and given Elmohamady’s struggles, Smith must play him against the Toffees.
Given Aston Villa’s outlay, Smith genuinely won’t last long if things continue this way. It’s massively important that the Villans stay up this season and the former Brentford boss needs to try new ideas, starting with Guilbert for Elmohamady.
