Agents have offered Liverpool and Newcastle United a transfer for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar. But Tim Vickery is ‘worried’ about what the future might now hold for the forward.

PSG have confirmed that Neymar will miss the rest of this season as he requires surgery on an ankle injury. The 31-year-old suffered ligament damage during his side’s 4-3 win against LOSC Lille last month. He had scored one and assisted one goal before being stretched off.

The Ligue 1 affair took Neymar to 18 goals and 17 assists over 29 appearances this season. He had offered two goals and three assists across six games in the Champions League. But the injury kept him from their last 16 second leg at Bayern Munich as PSG crashed out 3-0.

Agents have offered Liverpool and Newcastle United the transfer of Neymar

Neymar may now have played his final game for Paris Saint-Germain as the 124-cap Brazil icon’s agents have offered his transfer to a raft of sides, including Liverpool and Newcastle. Graeme Bailey has cited the Reds, Toon, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

The attacker’s representatives have sought to inform Premier League clubs that Neymar is, indeed, interested in moving to England. PSG are also not against his departure to save on his mammoth salary. But English teams fear he is using them to generate further interest.

Chelsea are a plausible destination for Neymar, though. Foot Mercato has noted that Blues co-owner Todd Boehly met the PSG star’s camp in February to discuss his situation. He has also spoken with Parc des Princes president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on the conditions for a deal.

While Le Parisien also adds that Paris Saint-Germain will sell Neymar for €60m (£53m). Al-Khelaifi is keen to clear the Brazilian’s €36m-a-year (£615k-a/w) wages from the accounts. His vastly lucrative contract in the French capital will run through to the summer of 2027.

What has Tim Vickery said about Neymar’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain?

Yet given the financial conditions required to sign Neymar, south American football expert Vickery questions which clubs would target the Paris Saint-Germain star’s transfer amid his agents contacting Premier League teams including Liverpool and Newcastle to seek offers.

Vickery said on talkSPORT: “Is anyone really going to pay big money for him with his injury record? Especially in a league as physically intense as the Premier League. So, I am a little bit worried about what the future holds for him.”
