Christian Eriksen has hinted that he would like to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Tim Vickery has told The Sun that while Giovani Lo Celso is not as good as Christian Eriksen from dead-ball situations, he would provide more dynamism than the Dane who has hinted that he would like to leave Tottenham this summer.

Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet that he wished to try something new this summer amid speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid after six years in North London.

Eriksen may be on his way out of the club if he gets his way. But one player who may be coming into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer is Lo Celso, with the Daily Mirror recently reporting that Spurs have had a £62 million bid rejected for the Real Betis star.

The Mirror noted that Lo Celso is keen to make the move to the Premier League to join Tottenham and his representatives believe that a deal could be done for £70 million.

It would be a fantastic statement for Pochettino’s men to land the Argentinian, especially if they do end up losing Eriksen. And South American football expert Vickery explained in which areas Spurs may have a better player on their hands should they land their reported target.

“Lo Celso would have an obvious appeal to the Tottenham boss. They are from the same region of Argentina – though they are on opposite sides of one of the country’s fiercest rivalries, Lo Celso a former player of Rosario Central while Pochettino represented Newell’s Old Boys,” he told The Sun.

“They share Italian heritage – Lo Celso even retains the Italian ‘c,’ meaning that his surname is pronounced ‘Lo Chelso.’

“And, most importantly, Lo Celso would have a great deal to offer on the field.

“He could be seen as a replacement for Christian Eriksen – perhaps lacking the Dane’s magnificence from set pieces, but providing more dynamism around the field, and lighting up the play with flashes of swaggering talent that Tottenham fans would see as right in the club’s tradition.”

Eriksen will be an incredibly difficult player for Tottenham to replace if he does leave. But it is not difficult to see why plenty of supporters are excited about the prospect of Lo Celso joining the club this summer.
