Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly shown interest in Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.

Tim Vickery has stated that Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso would be a ‘terrific buy’ for Tottenham Hotspur as he lauded him as a ‘pure talent’.
BBC Sport recently claimed that Spurs have bid in the region of £53 million for Lo Celso, who is also attracting interest from other Premier League clubs.
It is said that the 23-year-old has a release clause of £88 million in his contract and his Spanish club want to sell him for a fee closer to that amount.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (29/05/2019 at 10:30 am), Vickery offered an insight into Lo Celso’s career so far and the reported interest from Spurs.
On Pochettino’s future: “It’s a little message he’s sending to the club owners,” Vickery told Sky Sports News. “And maybe the fact that Tottenham linked with a big money Argentine midfielder in Lo Celso, maybe that is the club responding to the message.
On Giovani Lo Celso’s qualities: “He came from Rosario Central in Argentina where he just looked pure talent. Lovely left foot. The kind of left foot with radar passing. Can pick a pass. Can spot a pass. Can split the opposing defence. You are really seeing him as an Eriksen replacement, or that kind of player.
“He moved to Paris Saint-Germain, such a big squad and difficult to get a game. He came off badly at PSG in a big Champions League game when they used him as a defensive midfielder. We have seen this year with Betis what an inspirational playmaker he is in a side that wants to attack. I think he’ll be a terrific buy.”

Regardless of whether Lo Celso signs for Tottenham or not, the mere fact that the North London club are now seemingly being active in the transfer window will please supporters.
Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders with a limited budget, but he and the fans are now well aware that investment is needed in order for the club to take that next step.
If Lo Celso were to sign for the club then the attack-minded player would compete with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Harry Winks and Dele Alli to name a few for those midfield spots.
