Tim Sherwood believes that Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is set to have an extremely bright future.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, after Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Wolves, Sherwood waxed lyrical about the 22-year-old, who has stepped into the Reds’ goal and performed admirably.

Kelleher has played in Liverpool’s last two games and kept two clean-sheets on the bounce, with the prospect looking unflustered whenever he has come under pressure.

Kelleher wasn’t particularly busy against Wolves last night, but when he was called into action he was never troubled.

And Sherwood was impressed by the youngster’s interview afterwards as he was by his performance on the pitch.

“I’m having him. The way he was interviewed there, I thought he was great. He’s not fazed the kid, is he,” Sherwood said.

“He’s saying I’ve done the hard yards, been out on loan, got my chance by default.

“There’s more pressure, he’s playing in front of the Kop, he’s dreamed about that with 2000 fans in there, and he’s done everything correctly.

“It’s outstanding. I love the way he’s talking, he doesn’t think it’s the end of his career, it’s just the start. I think he’s got a big future in the game.”

Just how long Kelleher will remain in Liverpool’s starting line-up remains to be seen, but the panic over Alisson’s injury has died down after his displays of late.

The Reds academy graduate has excelled after being given the call-up, and certainly seems to give his defence more confidence than Adrian.

Alisson’s injury is not expected to be a long-term one, but the Brazilian could still be out for Liverpool’s next league match, which comes against Fulham next weekend.
