From Tanguy Ndombele to Richarlison, the tag of being Tottenham Hotspur’s record transfer hasn’t been an easy one to deal with.

During the summer of 2022, Richarlison took that tag from Tanguy Ndombele, who whatever happens, will go down as a Tottenham flop.

Whilst the struggling loaned-out Galatasaray star doesn’t look like turning his faltering career around, Richarlison still has the time to do so.

On Sunday, he netted a brace as Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham smashed Newcastle United 4-1 and Tim Sherwood added that he is ‘really pleased’ for the ex-Everton man, as he told Premier League Productions (10/12/23 at 6:40 pm).

Tim Sherwood thinks the Brazil international is someone who seemingly ‘isn’t enjoying his football’ and now he hopes the confidence from the weekend will help him get back to his best.

There is still a long way to go for the 26-year-old, who even though he was brought in by Antonio Conte last season, just didn’t seem to fit what the Italian wanted.

Richarlison’s brace against Newcastle United

“I am really pleased for him, really am,” said Sherwood. “It looks like he isn’t enjoying football when you look at his face.

“He has had a hard time and I think now, possibly, they have stumbled across their best formation. I think if Richarlison can start to play with some confidence and put some goals away.”

Tottenham’s attacking style under Ange Postecoglou

If Richarlison can’t score goals under Postecoglou and this all-action attacking system, then it really will be curtains for the player.

He has probably been given the benefit of the doubt for his struggles last term and he still has the support of his fans.

It’s fair to say that they won’t be so patient if he continues to underperform and miss big chances in front of goal.

Richarlison has only managed seven goals since joining Spurs. He is a player who should be hitting double figures in a single campaign, never mind from 49 matches.
