Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (2:43pm, October 24, 2020) that he does not think that Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale will be the player he was when he left for Real Madrid.
The former Tottenham manager believes that Bale is still a “very, very effective player”, but the Sky Sports pundit does not think that he will be back to his best.
Spurs signed the 31-year-old Wales international winger on loan from Madrid in the summer transfer window, having sold him to the Spanish and European giants back in the summer of 2013.
Sherwood said about Bale on Sky Sports News (2:43pm, October 24, 2020): “Will he back to where he was? No, of course, he won’t. Seven years is a long time, but he is still a very, very effective player.”
Gareth Bale is a big signing for Tottenham Hotspur
One could argue that Bale is past his prime. After all, the Welshman is 31 years of age.
However, the winger has had injury problems in recent times, and he struggled to get into the Madrid team when he was fit last season.
It could take Bale a few games to get back to full match fitness, but Tottenham fans should be optimistic about him doing well for the team this season.
Bale is hungry and will want to show what he is capable of after recent tough times at Madrid.
