Mousa Dembele made his return to Premier League action for Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
Tim Sherwood has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 19th September, that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is frightening on the training ground.
Dembele made his first Premier League appearance of the season against Sunderland yesterday, after missing the opening few matches with suspension.
The Belgian international’s return makes Spurs’ midfield options look a lot stronger, and Sherwood believes that the Lilywhites will be competing for the title once again this season.
“They are getting the job done again. Yesterday was the most comfortable 1-0, I’ve ever seen,” Sherwood said.
“Dembele came to life last year. He has everything. He is the most frightening training ground player you’ve ever seen. It’s laughable. Nobody gets anybody near him.
“They have a lovely blend there. Why shouldn’t they challenge? But Manchester City are nailed on to win this Premier League, and that’s the only problem they have.”
Tottenham struggled without Dembele last season, but they have remained unbeaten without him this time around, which highlights the improvements that they have made over the summer.
Spurs made some astute signings in the previous transfer window, and the addition of Victor Wanyama has strengthened their midfield options considerably.
Dembele actually limped off during Tottenham’s latest match, which they won 1-0 against Sunderland.
The hope is that Dembele’s injury will not be too serious, and he will be fit enough to play in Tottenham’s next league match against Middlesbrough at the weekend.
