Andre Gray signed for Watford yesterday, and could have been ideal for Newcastle United according to Tim Sherwood.
Newcastle fans have been disgruntled by their side’s lack of activity over the summer so far, with just five new players joining up.
However, Sherwood believes that Newcastle have a limited amount of players to pick from and feels that they cannot risk bringing in too many players without Premier League experience.

As a result, he feels that Gray, who has just signed for Watford, could have been a good addition for the Magpies too.
“Who do they buy? The bar has been risen in the Premier League,” he said.
“I like the signing of Andre Gray at Watford. That’s a fantastic signing, you know what he can give you. If you’re bringing in foreign players it’s always going to be a risk. Newcastle can’t take that risk next season. They can’t risk it. But with low risk players, comes high wages and high transfer fees.”
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is known to be frustrated with his side’s struggles to bring in quality this summer.
Benitez had ambitious plans for Newcastle, but has missed out on a number of his leading targets.
Newcastle are expected to bring in more players in the coming weeks, but have just weeks left to get their transfer business completed.
Newcastle start their season at the weekend, when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park.
