Aston Villa are reportedly looking to sign John Terry this summer.
Tim Sherwood
Tim Sherwood has told Sky Sports that he thinks John Terry would be a good signing for Aston Villa amid strong speculation surrounding a possible deal.
Terry, 36, ended his Chelsea career last month as he bowed out against Sunderland on the final day of the season, racking up appearance number 717 before his contract expired.
The centre back was a Stamford Bridge hero having captained the Blues to five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League as he established himself as one of the top English defenders in history.

Now though, Terry will be looking for a new club having ended his 22-year association with Chelsea – and he may even end up dropping down into the Championship this summer.
The Sun report that Terry has been offered a £60,000-a-week deal to join Aston Villa, with manager Steve Bruce viewing him and his experience as vital to Villa’s chances of promotion back to the Premier League.

With The Mirror claiming that Terry doesn’t want to join a Premier League team as it would mean facing his beloved Chelsea, Villa appear to be best placed to sign the former England international this summer.
Now, former Villa boss Tim Sherwood has offered his view on the speculation, telling Sky Sports that he thinks it would be a good move for all parties if Terry made the move to Villa Park.

Sherwood added that Villa need leaders, and given that they are a huge club, he feels that Terry would fit in and not feel like he is taking too much of a step down from Chelsea.
“I think it’s a good move for John and a good move for Villa,” said Sherwood. “John’s an excellent professional, not only in what he gives you on the pitch but also what he’s going to give you around the dressing room. He will make other players around him better.”
“They need some leaders there and there’s no bigger leader than John Terry. Every club needs those sorts of characters and certainly a huge club like Villa with the fan base they’ve got. John won’t feel like he’s going to a smaller club,” he added.
