Tim Sherwood has praised Harry Kane as a ‘phenomenon’ after he helped his Tottenham Hotspur side record a much-needed 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The former Tottenham manager added that ‘Harry Kane has got something Erling Haaland hasn’t’ and that’s the 29-year-old’s ability in the air.

Against Palace, that was the Tottenham hitman’s 26th Premier League goal of the season and his tenth headed goal of the campaign – no one has scored more in a season, not even Everton’s former powerhouse, Duncan Ferguson.

Overall, Kane now has 209 Premier League goals to his name – surpassing Manchester United great, Wayne Rooney on the all-time list.

That’s another list that Kane has pushed ahead of Rooney, after recently becoming England’s all-time record goalscorer.

Nonetheless, after Kane helped Ryan Mason’s side to a much-needed three points yesterday, his former manager thinks he is going ‘under the radar’, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (06/05/23 at 8:40 pm).

“That’s something that Erling Haaland hasn’t got,” said Sherwood about Kane’s heading ability. “I know he has got an awful lot Haaland. Harry’s got that over him. He is better in the air.

“You can’t keep this boy quiet. Where would Tottenham be without him? I would suggest midtable.

“He has gone under the radar, Harry Kane, this season because Haaland has been so good. He pulls them out of the fire time and time again. He’s such a world-class performer. Even his goal today – he creates all the goals and he scores all the goals. He’s just a phenomenon.”

HAALAND V KANE

Without a doubt, the duo are the top two strikers in the Premier League and players who could score goals in their sleep.

Very different players, one likes to drop deep and make the ball talk, whilst Haaland prefers to play central, off the shoulder and he is always peering towards the far post.

Haaland will go on to win the Golden Boot with his current record of 35 goals this season, but the fact that Kane is behind him on 26 for a pretty poor and declining Spurs side is a credit to the player himself.
