Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (12:26pm, January 30, 2021) what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told him at a training session at the club.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, has said that he was recently invited to the Arsenal training ground.

Sherwood said that Arteta told him how he places the senior players with the youngsters in the dressing room.

The Englishman shared the information while discussing the importance of senior players such as David Luiz and Granit Xhaka in the Arsenal team.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal star Paul Merson said that he wanted the Gunners to sign Jonny Evans before he moved to Leicester City from West Bromwich Albion.

Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (12:26pm, January 30, 2021): “I was fortunate to get invited into the Arsenal training ground. I spoke with Mikel, and he told me that he places these boys around the dressing room next to the young kids and teaches them.”

Merson said on Sky Sports News (1:13pm, January 30, 2021): “I remember few years ago Evans was at West Brom. I was sitting here and I was going, ‘Go and get him. Arsenal have got to go and get Evans. Get Evans’. They didn’t get him because he was at West Brom. ‘What are we getting someone from West Brom for?’ Now he is one of the best centre-halves in the league at the moment.”

Good management

Arteta’s management seems sound. Arsenal do have a good mix of experienced and young players, and it is best that they mingle, and it seems that the manager wants just that.

The Spaniard had a tough time earlier this season, and there will be occasions when he will go through bad spells, but it is very important that he sticks to his philosophy.
