Everton signed Michael Keane yesterday, and Tim Sherwood says Liverpool should’ve moved for him.

Tim Sherwood has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 4th July, that Liverpool should have rivalled Everton for Michael Keane.

Everton snapped up Keane from Burnley yesterday, in a transfer worth £30 million.

And Sherwood feels that the Toffees have added a player who would have been perfect for their Merseyside rivals, Liverpool.

“I think they desperately need a centre-back,” Sherwood said. “I thought Michael Keane might have been that man. I’m sure Jurgen are looking for guys to bring in.”

Liverpool have been searching for a centre-back this summer, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have faced difficulties so far.

Liverpool have struggled to get transfer deals over the line, with the Reds having to drop their interest in Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.

Everton, on the other hand, have been the most active team in the Premier League to date.

The Toffees have brought in a whole host of new players, with Keane the latest in a long list of new arrivals.

Keane is expected to go straight into Everton’s defence, where he is likely to partner Ashley Williams.

Everton finished 15 points behind Liverpool last term, but Ronald Koeman will be hoping that his side can close that gap this time around.
