Tim Sherwood raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips on Sky Sports News (12:38pm, September 12, 2020).

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager outlined the attributes of the England international.

Although Sherwood spoke highly of the 24-year-old, he pointed out an area where the Leeds star can improve.

Sherwood said about Phillips on Sky Sports News (12:38pm, September 12, 2020): “He is a good player. If you look at his attributes he has, he has good strength, wonderful technique.

“Is he a backfoot player? Does he receive it off the defenders, open himself up? Probably not. He can improve at that. He has got great pace, he is very tenacious.”

Big player for Leeds United

Phillips was superb for Leeds for the past two seasons in the Championship and played a key role in Marcelo Bielsa’s side winning automatic promotion from the second tier of English football at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The England international was brilliant on his Premier League debut against Liverpool at the weekend and even impressed some fans of the Merseyside club, as covered by HITC Sport here.

Phillips has improved a lot under Bielsa over the past two years, and the Englishman will be determined to take his game to the next level now that he is playing in the Premier League.

The midfielder has the potential to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in the top flight of English football.
