Tim Sherwood has told the Kelly & Wrighty Show that he is surprised Wolverhampton Wanderers ace Pedro Neto has not left Molineux yet – amid reports Arsenal were considering a bid in the summer for the £60million-rated winger.
Neto, 22, has caught the eye for Wolves since joining the club from Lazio in 2019. Clocking up 101 appearances in all competitions, the Portugal international is renowned for his speed, dribbling and skill. A real flair-type player.
One thing Neto does lack is his end product, even though he has produced 23 goal involvements in his time at Wolves. But that could be partly down to Wolves playing in such a pragmatic manner – Adama Traore’s stats are similar.
Discussing Wolves after the club sacked Bruno Lage, Sherwood says he is surprised that Neto has not departed. He cited Liverpool’s Diogo Jota by saying that Wolves are a selling club – and that only injuries have stopped Neto leaving.
“They’re a selling club, they’ve done it previously, they try and build. I thought Neto would be one that would’ve have gone by now, the injuries are the only reason he has stayed – look at Jota,” Sherwood told the Kelly & Wrighty Show.

In the summer, Fabrizio Romano said that Arsenal were incredibly tempting for Neto. But he has stayed put at a club where he boasts a contract that will last until the summer of 2027. The chances of him staying until then are very slim.
With Arsenal already sniffing, it is likely that the Gunners will not be alone come next summer, when other clubs look to strengthen. But as things stand, Neto remains at Wolves and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal retain an interest.
Judging by Edu’s transfer blueprint, they will. Arsenal like to go after players between 20 and 25 that are already experienced. With more than 100 games at Wolves, and three caps for Portugal, he fits that criteria.
