Tim Sherwood said on Premier League Productions that Arsenal wish they had Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud in their team right now.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager made the comment while analysing Arsenal putting in a lot of crosses into the opposition box.
Sherwood believes that Giroud would be able to score from those crosses, and that Arsenal would love to have the striker back.
The France international striker joined Chelsea from London and Premier League rivals Arsenal in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by The Telegraph to be worth £18 million.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “Olivier Giroud. They wish, they wish they could have him back. He was a prolific goalscorer for them.”
Back to Arsenal?
Sherwood is not the only footballing figure who has made comments about Giroud and Arsenal in recent days.
Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva said earlier this month that things would be different had the club still had Giroud.
Although the 34-year-old striker has been among the goals at Chelsea in recent times, he is behind Tammy Abraham and Timo Werner in the pecking order at the Blues.
Perhaps Arsenal should make a loan offer for the Frenchman in the January transfer window.
It could be appealing to Giroud, especially with the European Championship coming up in the summer of 2021.
According to BBC Sport, the striker scored 105 goals in 253 games during his time at Arsenal.
