Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood has said that Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan would be perfect for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has said on Sky Sports News (12:05pm, May 20, 2023) that Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan would fit into the way that Arsenal play.
Sherwood has raved about the Germany international midfielder Gundogan and has outlined his attributes.
According to a report in Spanish publication SPORT in March, Arsenal are trying to sign Gundogan on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.
The report claimed interest in the £165,000-a-week (SalarySport) German star from Barcelona as well.
Sherwood said about Gundogan: “I think he is one of the cleanest footballers I have seen. What I mean by that is I have never seen him mis-control the ball.
“I mean, every pass he makes is the correct one. He is the complete midfield player. I think he would be an asset anywhere, certainly fit into the Arsenal system. No doubt about that.”

Ilkay Gundogan would make Arsenal better
In our view, Ilkay Gundogan would make Arsenal a better and classier team in the middle of the park.
That the midfielder would become a free agent at the end of the season is something that Arsenal have surely taken into account.
Signing such a world-class player on a free would be a real coup for Arsenal.
Yes, Gundogan is 32 now, but he is a player at the top of his game.
And he is a serial winner with Manchester City.
We believe that if Arsenal are able to strike a deal with the German, then they should do so.
