Aston Villa have made a terrible start to the season, and parted company with Roberto Di Matteo today.
Tim Sherwood has hinted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 3rd October, that he would be interested in taking the Aston Villa job.
Roberto Di Matteo has lost his job as Villa boss already, after what was a poor start to the season.
The Villans have won just one of their first 10 Championship matches, and lost 2-0 against Preston North End in their most recent outing.
Sherwood has already taken charge at Villa before, but the 47-year-old has suggested that he would be willing to go back to Villa Park.
“I don’t know these owners. I was there under a different regime and the guy I was there and respect wanted out. It was a really difficult situation, but when you go into a club when someone wants to pick it up and take it forward it’s a great opportunity,” Sherwood said, when asked whether he’d be interested in taking the Villa job.
Villa went into the season as one of the favourites for promotion, but they have failed to live up to expectations so far.
The Claret and Blues are currently stuck in 19th place in the Championship table.
As things stand, the likes of Steve Bruce and David Wagner are believed to be amongst the leading contenders to land the job.
When Sherwood was in charge at Villa before, he won 10 of his 26 games at the helm.
