Arsene Wenger recently suggested Arsenal fans to be like Tottenham Hotspur supporters.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger made some interesting comments about the club’s fans earlier this week. Wenger suggested that the Emirates Stadium faithful should be more like the supporters of Tottenham Hotspur.

Wenger stated that the Arsenal fans should be behind the team at all times, just like the Tottenham supporters. The Frenchman made the comments in the wake of the Gunners losing back-to-back games against Watford and Chelsea in the Premier League.

“We are in a fight, we absolutely have to be united or we have no chance to do it,” The Independent quoted the Frenchman as saying earlier this week.
“You have Tottenham, everyone is in the fight and everyone is behind their team. We have to do exactly the same, even if we had two disappointing results.”

Wenger’s comments were quite interesting and a bit controversial. After all, Arsenal and Tottenham are bitter North London rivals. Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood, now the director of football at Swindon Town, has claimed that Wenger should not have made those comments.
“The game is very fickle,” Sherwood told talkSPORT. “If the team wins then the fans are good and you shouldn’t expect anything other than that.
“I think it’s wrong to try and dictate how the fans should be. The fans are going to be how they want to on reflection of how you are performing and I think that’s only right. They pay their money and they can voice it however they want.”

Arsenal returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, getting the better of Hull City 2-0 at the Emirates. The Gunners are level on points with Tottenham, but behind them in third due to an inferior goal difference.
Wenger’s side will face Bayern Munich away from home at the Allianz Arena in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday evening.
