Tottenham Hotspur are out of the Carabao Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur have been eliminated from the Carabao Cup.
Spurs were beaten on penalties by Colchester United after serving up a flat performance against a well disciplined and organised home team.
Tottenham rested key players including Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele and paid the price.
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood was critical of the team’s performance.
Speaking to Sky Sports The Debate (24/9 10pm) he said he thought the team Mauricio Pochettino selected was good enough to win.
Sherwood said: “When I saw Son, Eriksen and Lamela come on I thought that’s it.
“But they got into a rut. Very stale, playing safe, no one taking any risks. It’s unbelievable they haven’t been able to do the job.
“He’s not picked a bad team there. He has got to be able to give players a game. Progression would be to win silverware that’s one they can’t win now.”

That is the big problem for Tottenham which this result brings. A cup run could have really lifted the team.
The credit must go to Colchester, and too many Tottenham players are letting themselves down.
Pochettino will have learned a lot about his fringe men, little of it positive.
