Everton are still searching for a new manager after Ronald Koeman’s exit.

Pundit Tim Sherwood has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he understands why Everton are taking their time over their new manager – but raised question marks over top target Marco Silva.
The Toffees sacked manager Ronald Koeman last month after a terrible start to the season, in which the Dutchman lost five of his first nine Premier League games to open the campaign.
Caretaker David Unsworth is still in contention to land the job on a full-time basis despite just one win in four games, and his chances of getting the job appear to be improving by the day.
Earlier this week, Sky Sports reported that Everton had failed to tempt Sam Allardyce out of retirement and then failed with an approach for Watford boss Marco Silva too.

Goal then claimed that a bid for Wolves boss Nuno had been snubbed as well, before Allardyce told talkSPORT that he had pulled out of the race for the job as he didn’t feel wanted.
That leaves Everton scrambling for another option, and pundit Tim Sherwood has now offered his view on Sky Sports’ The Debate.
Sherwood says he understands why Everton are taking their time, as they need to get the right man for the job – and he simply stated that the Toffees clearly didn’t want Allardyce enough given his comments on the situation.
Sherwood added that he thinks Watford may have to let Silva go if he wants a move to Everton, but had words of caution for the Toffees, highlighting that he has a relegation on his CV with Hull City last season, and it’s still unclear just how good the Portuguese boss really is.

“I’m not surprised they’re taking their time,” said Sherwood. “I don’t think they’re in any danger of getting relegated with this squad of players. There’s no need to panic at Everton, I don’t think they need someone who’s a safe pair of hands to go in and save them, I don’t think that’s necessary at this stage, and I don’t think it will be necessary at any stage. I think that they are a club who need to take a step back and really identify what they want and get the right man.”
“Well they obviously didn’t want him [Allardyce], because if they wanted him, he was available, and they could have took him, so they obviously want to go in a different direction. If true, then they obviously fancy him [Silva]. I would be very surprised if Watford want to let him go at this moment in time, but if they get the right number…the key is if Marco wants to leave. If he wants to leave the football club, then there’s no point keeping him. You’re better off letting him go to Everton and getting somebody else in”
“You never know if he’s the right man until he’s at the club. Marco Silva has took Hull down – okay, he took over a sinking ship, and he gave them a little bit of an upturn, but he still took them down – so he’s got a relegation on his CV. He’s took over at Watford, he’s done very well, I like his style of play, he plays on the front foot, he doesn’t try and just protect what he’s got. It remains to be seen how good he really is,” he added.
