Tim Sherwood praises former Aston Villa man Adama Traore

Aston Villa sold Adama Traore to Middlesbrough back in 2016.

Tim Sherwood has told Sky Sports that he believes Aston Villa let a player who could set the world alight go in the shape of Adama Traore.

Sherwood managed Traore at Villa, with the winger having limited success at Villa Park.

The former Barcelona man was generally used as an impact substitute, and his performances showed just how raw he was.

Traore has started putting things together at Middlesbrough now though, and is becoming a massive threat for Tony Pulis’ side.

And Sherwood claims that Traore could now go and slot straight into Manchester City’s side.

“He could go and play for Manchester City tomorrow,” Sherwood said.

“Not Manchester United as he’s not necessarily a Jose Mourinho player, but he could be a Pep Guardiola player and play free and loose. He could probably set the world alight. He has got those qualities. He is eye-catching and he gets people on the edge of their seats.”

Traore scored one goal in 12 appearances for Villa, before being offloaded by Roberto Di Matteo.

He had a similarly ineffective record at Boro prior to this season, but all of a sudden he has transformed into their most important attacking player.

Traore has provided six assists and scored three goals in his 26 appearances for Boro this term, and is now attracting interest from the Premier League.
