Tim Sherwood speaks highly of Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose.

Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has told BBC Sport that Danny Rose has been Tottenham Hotspur’s unsung hero so far this season.

The former Tottenham manager made the comments following Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Manchester City away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

“Danny Rose for me,” said Sherwood when asked for his unsung hero of the week. “In the recent game what we have just seen this afternoon, playing for Tottenham I think Danny has been an unsung hero, not only for today but for all season.

“I think he has been consistent in his performances, he gives Tottenham great balance going forward, driving up and down, puts his body on the line when it’s right to.”

Rose has been playing well this season and was a key figure in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over City on Sunday evening.

The 25-year-old defender took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 84%, put in eight crosses, attempted four dribbles, won 67% of his tackles, and made two interceptions, five clearances and four blocks.

The left-back has featured in 14 Premier League matches for Spurs so far this season, creating 11 chances in the process.

Rose has a pass accuracy of 78% and a shot accuracy of 25%, and has won 14 headers, 12 dribbles and 33 tackles.

Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 51 points from 26 matches, just two points behind leaders Leicester City.
