Former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa boss Tom Sherwood has paid Burnley and manager Sean Dyche a bizarre backhanded compliment.

The Clarets have made a solid return to the Premier League and sit 14th with seven points from their first seven games.
Dyche has them looking solid but with more creativity and attacking intent than their previous stint in the top flight.
The likes of Andre Gray and Steven Defour have added guile and pace Burnley did not possess last time around and they were desperately unlucky to be denied a point in the last gasp 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Turf Moor.
But now Sherwood, who has been without a job after being sacked by Villa last year, has paid the club a bizarre backhanded compliment, telling talkSPORT no-one wants to watch Dyche’s play.

“Sean Dyche has done a great job with Burnley, he sets them up and gets the best out of what they can do,” Sherwood said on talkSPORT.
“Burnley have just got to do what is good for them, I think the biggest compliment I can pay Burnley is that no-one wants to watch them… or play against them.
“They do really nullify the game and he’s got to do what he can do.”

Burnley must show that steely side in their next run of fixtures after the international break if they are to continue their encouraging start.
Dyche’s men travel to Southampton before entertaining high flying Everton. That is then followed by a trip to face Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Last time around in the Premier League that set of fixtures would have cast a cloud on the horizon for the Clarets.
But now the club look fresher, stronger and have more ability than before and the team and supporters will go into those games full of confidence.
