Tottenham Hotspur striker Kazaiah Sterling was included in Mauricio Pochettino’s side’s squad at the weekend.

Tim Sherwood has told The Debate, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 21st January, that Tottenham Hotspur forward Kazaiah Sterling is probably not ready to lead the line.

Sterling has been called into Tottenham’s first-team by Mauricio Pochettino recently, as injuries have mounted.

Spurs are without Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son, and now Dele Alli is also injured.

Sterling was included on Tottenham’s substitutes’ bench against Fulham at the weekend, and could even be required to feature against Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final on Thursday.

And Sherwood is sceptical whether Sterling is ready to make the step up, although he does insists Spurs will never know how good their young talent is unless they give him a chance.

“They’ve got Sterling. He’s very young though and has had no game time. That would be a major risk [to play him against Chelsea],” Sherwood said.

“But until you get an opportunity, you don’t know how good they are. The boy is very confident, he’s very game, he’s an out and out number nine. He’s got good pace.

“If I stuck my neck on the line and said is he ready? No, but he might be good enough to thicken up the squad for now.”

Tottenham could have Lucas Moura back against Chelsea, and the Brazilian will surely lead the line for Pochettino’s side, if he is fit.

Tottenham have a 1-0 lead to protect at Stamford Bridge, after a Harry Kane penalty separated the two sides in the first leg.
