Tim Sherwood has described the job that Daniel Levy has done at Tottenham Hotspur as ‘magnificent’ on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, which was broadcast on Optus Sport.
Levy has come under pressure at Tottenham recently, after the European Super League drama.
Spurs fans have protested outside the ground, with many calling for Levy to resign.
But, after a dramatic week, where Levy also sacked Jose Mourinho,
Sherwood has spoken out in defence of his former boss at Tottenham Hotspur.
He said: “One thing Daniel and Joe Lewis doesn’t do is beat around the bush when it comes to making a decision.
“If they felt it was right to sack him, they would have their own reasons, they would do it.
“I remember when he first came to the football club I was a player there and it was a week before an FA cup semi-final against Arsenal.
“They decided it was a good idea to sack George Graham.
“Now if you’re ever going to win a one off game against a team that are better than you, as Arsenal was, it would be George Graham in charge. But he brought in Glenn Hoddle.
“He felt it was right at the time and he makes that decision.
“He doesn’t hesitate and I think overall since he’s been at the football club is chalk and cheese. From where he took that football club to where he’s going to leave it eventually, he’s done a magnificent job.”
Levy has indeed helped Tottenham make progress during his time at the club, with the new stadium his crowning glory.
However, a supposed lack of investment in the playing squad has caused frustration among the fan base, and Levy’s decision to appoint Mourinho was also very controversial.
The news that Levy was set to take Tottenham into the Super League has caused further anger, and he still hasn’t apologised to supporters for those actions.
Whether Levy can win the trust of Spurs fans back now remains to be seen.
But the Athletic claim that he has no intention of standing down, despite the pressure building on him.
