Tim Sherwood has claimed that Liverpool will definitely be among the Premier League pace setters by the end of the season on BT Sport’s Premier League Preview show.
Liverpool have drifted away from the top of the league in recent weeks, after winning just one of their last seven games in all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are now playing catch up with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City.
But Sherwood has assured Liverpool fans that their side has what it takes to make up the ground.
“They have been so high, the standards they have set,” Sherwood said.
“When you look at it from the outside you think can they keep that going, it must be impossible and this year they have really struggled to.
“I wouldn’t write them off, I think it’s just a matter of time before it all clicks again. But, for Liverpool fans out there, don’t panic. Your team will be right there.
“They’re not at the final bend yet and when it comes down to the last couple of yards I assure them they are going to be there. Liverpool will be amongst it.”
If Liverpool are to climb back into title contention then they will require a dramatic turnaround in their form.
The Reds have looked shaky at the back, without so many key defenders, and they also haven’t attacked with their usual flair of late.
Liverpool would at least be able to silence a lot of the doubters if they are able to pick up a win on Thursday.
Klopp’s men are due to take on Tottenham and if they could pick up the three points it would be a huge boost for everyone involved at Anfield.
