Leeds United and Aston Villa could potentially be meeting in the playoff final in May.

Tim Sherwood has played down Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to allow Aston Villa to score and claimed that it was an ‘easy’ thing to do.
The former Villa manager wasn’t seemingly having any of Bielsa’s kind act of sportsmanship during his team’s chaotic 1-1 draw with the Midlands side on Sunday.
Bielsa allowed Dean Smith’s side to score an uncontested goal at Elland Road when Mateusz Klich had put the ball in the back of the net despite the away team thinking they were going to kick it out of play because of an injury to Jonathan Kodjia.
Speaking on the Debate on Sky Sports Premier League (30/04/2019 at 10:45 pm), Sherwood offered his very honest thoughts on Bielsa allowing Villa to score.
“Going back to the Bielsa thing where he’s letting them score, there’s nothing on the game, it’s easy to do that,” Sherwood told the Debate. “I would have done it. If there was something on the game, he wouldn’t have done that.
“I’m being cynical saying what I feel about the guy. I think it was an easy one to give because there was nothing on the game. They are both in the playoffs now, so it will be interesting to see if they play each other in the playoffs and if he does the same thing there.”

Prior to the match kicking off, Villa had secured their top-six status and Leeds had lost out to neighbours Sheffield United, who secured the final automatic spot.
As a result, there wasn’t much on the game in terms of securing playoff or automatic spots, but that didn’t stop the game from being lively from start to finish.
Leeds were the better side throughout, but Smith’s side showcased their defensive strength to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games heading into the final game of the regular season.
It is looking likely that both teams will avoid each other in the semi-finals, but if they can progress from there then they will meet at Wembley in May for what will no doubt be a mouthwatering occasion.
