Tim Sherwood told Premier League Productions that Gareth Bale ‘cannot get a kick’ of the football because of Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
The former Spurs boss acknowledged that Bale is out with an injury now, but because of the ‘world-class’ duo ahead of him ‘some better’ players cannot even get a look in.
At the start of the season, when Bale re-joined Spurs from Real Madrid many felt that he would be part of a potential fearsome front three.
But that hasn’t been the case because Bale has struggled to get going, as Sherwood hailed the manner in which Jose Mourinho has managed the situation.
“They have got other talented players there but you cannot break up this partnership,” said Sherwood. “76% of the goals this season.
“But it’s also good management because what he has done is he has put a solid base in behind them, some better players who are not actually getting a game. When Gareth Bale came to the club everyone thought ‘Oh, it’s going to be the threesome up there’
“I know he’s injured, at the moment, but he cannot get a kick of the football. He [Mourinho] wants a nice solid base in behind these two [Kane and Son] and let them two world-class players do the damage.”

Whilst some Spurs fans will be frustrated at Bale’s situation, it’s all about whether he can play his part in the club winning a trophy at the end of the campaign.
If Bale spends very little time on the pitch for Mourinho’s men, but plays a crucial role in them either lifting the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup or the Europa League then the fans or Daniel Levy won’t care about his game time.
The positive thing for Spurs is that during his time on the pitch, he has still managed to find the back of the net even if he has lacked that zip and spark to his game.
