Tim Sherwood has told The Weekend Preview that Jamie Vardy will have a ‘sleepless night’ before Leicester’s showdown at Anfield because he will be ‘so excited’ at coming up against Liverpool’s ‘make-shift’ centre-back duo.

Whilst England’s retired international has put his feet up during this past week, Liverpool have endured a nightmare scenario after a nightmare scenario.

From Mo Salah having to self-isolate to Joe Gomez having to join his defensive partner in the treatment room, it leaves the champions of England depleted and wondering what’s next.

Former Premier League title-winner Sherwood thinks the Foxes will hit Liverpool on the break and Vardy will be licking his lips at who he will be up against.

“It’s pretty predictable how this game is going to go,” said Sherwood. “Liverpool are going to have all the possession and Leicester will try to counter-attack.

“Obviously, with Jamie Vardy, he might have a sleepless night. On Saturday night, he will be so excited at playing two make-shift centre-backs at Liverpool.

“Absolutely [Vardy has a good record against the Reds]. It’s going to take a very good team performance from Brendan Rodgers’ side to take the points.”

When Jurgen Klopp found out that he had to make more changes to his backline, the last thing he needs is the Golden Boot winner from last season turning up to Anfield and hoping to spoil the party.

Even if Liverpool had a strong side, the table-toppers going into this set of weekend fixtures, are dangerous against teams who come at them – and Liverpool are one of those.

Depending on who is going to play at centre-back on Sunday, they are going to need that understanding and know-how of thinking five-yards ahead of Vardy, otherwise, it’s going to be another tough night under the lights.
