Tim Sherwood claims North London derby can only end one way, makes prediction about Spurs

Tim Sherwood is backing Spurs to beat Arsenal on Saturday.

Pundit Tim Sherwood has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he thinks Tottenham Hotspur will beat Arsenal ‘comfortably’ in Saturday’s North London derby.

With the international break now over, the attention turns right back to the Premier League, and this weekend’s fixtures kick off with a huge North London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

Hosts Arsenal head into the game having lost 3-1 at Manchester City before the international break, with Arsene Wenger’s men once again coming up short in an away game against a major rival.

Meanwhile, Tottenham picked up a solid if unspectacular 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Wembley Stadium, with Son Heung-min bagging the winner for an unconvincing Spurs side.

Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that his side can pick up another win when they make the short trip across North London on Saturday afternoon, and he should have Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane fresh and raring to go having missed England’s international friendlies.

Much has been made of the power shift in North London since Pochettino’s arrival as Spurs boss in 2014, and pundit and former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood – the man Pochettino replaced – has had his say on the matter.

Sherwood has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that Spurs are taking over North London now, and predicted that Pochettino is on the brink of winning a trophy, having made an exciting, youthful side who are not only impressing in the Premier League, but also in Europe.

Sherwood added that he thinks Saturday’s clash can only end one way, and that’s with a Tottenham win, backing Pochettino’s men to win ‘comfortably’ at the Emirates Stadium.

“The pendulum has swung, and it’s Tottenham on the ascendancy now,” said Sherwood. “Yes, I admire Arsenal; three FA Cups in four years, I know they’ve won trophies and Tottenham have yet to win a trophy [under Pochettino], but Tottenham are on the brink of winning something. They are going in the right direction, they’ve got Champions League, they had some great results, they’re bringing through great young players, they’re building something for the future.

“This game on Saturday morning can only end up one way, and that has to be a Tottenham win. I have to say that I think Tottenham will win comfortably,” he added.
