Tim Sherwood has claimed that Tottenham’s hat-trick hero Lucas Moura and Liverpool’s Divock Origi won’t play in the Champions League final next month.

Moura helped his team secure their place in the final when they beat Ajax 3-2 in Amerstadam in one of the most remarkable nights in their history.

Harry Kane was absent for the match because of injury and was touch and go to play. But with the final set to be played at the start of next month, there is no doubt that he will be fit and ready for that match.

Added with that, Origi netted a brace for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they produced their own stunning fightback on Tuesday when they overturned Barcelona’s three-goal deficit at Anfield.

Speaking on the Debate on Sky Sports Premier League (08/05/2019 10:10 pm), Sherwood claimed that despite scoring a hat-trick in the semi’s, Moura may find himself starting from the bench against the Reds, along with Origi.

“The guy who is carrying the match ball home with him, Lucas Moura, he might not play in the final,” Sherwood told Sky Sports Football. “That’s a footnote. He’ll be ready for that, Harry Kane. So, it’ll be an interesting team selection.

“It’s going to be a shame for Orgi, who has taken them to the final, and it’s going to be a shame for Lucas Moura. He won’t play. Harry Kane will be back in there. If he’s fit enough.”

Whatever Moura has done in his career so far, that hat-trick against Ajax will surely go top of his list in terms of accomplishments.

Not only that, it would be one of the greatest performances in a Tottenham shirt given what he did, how he did it and the stage he did it on.

Nonetheless, the European Cup final will be an all English affair for the first time since Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties in 2008.

The Europa League could also fall that way if Arsenal and Chelsea win their respective semi-finals. Either way, there could be the possibility that both European Cups could be in the hands of an English team.
