Tim Sherwood has claimed that Darwin Nunez’s second touch for Liverpool ‘isn’t the best’, as he praised Mo Salah’s return to form.

On Sunday, Liverpool recorded a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in north London, with Nunez assisting Salah for the opening goal.

As Gary Neville stated, Nunez might still be a little rough, but he is sure causing problems when getting on the ball in the attacking third for the Reds.

At times, his control can let him down, but that’s just the 23-year-old still growing as a player because this rough diamond could become a gem in 12 months’ time.

In the meantime, he can learn from a player of Salah’s ilk, as Sherwood stated that the Egypt international now has his ‘sharpness’ back, as he told Premier League Productions (06/11/22 at 6:35 pm).

“The second touch has got to be good as well,” said Sherwood. “Nunez’s first touch is alright, but his second touch isn’t the best.

“Yes, he’s nothing without the first one, but Salah, it’s good news for Liverpool that he is back. Where has he been? He looks back to his sharpness. They need him and they need him now.”

NUNEZ SHOWING REAL PROMISE

The big-money summer signing can’t do anything about the hefty transfer fee that was put on his head when Liverpool purchased him from Benfica.

It probably also doesn’t help matters that he is being compared to Erling Haaland and he has well and truly ripped it up in Manchester City colours this season.

But it’s all about the long-term with Nunez and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool fans don’t see the absolute best out of him until another 12-18 months.
