Tim Sherwood claims Danny Rose for Luke Shaw swap is so inevitable, Spurs may as well agree the deal now

Tim Sherwood believes Danny Rose and Luke Shaw will be switching clubs in the near future.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he thinks Manchester United and Spurs will swap Luke Shaw and Danny Rose in 2018.

United claimed a 1-0 win over Spurs on Saturday afternoon, as Anthony Martial scored a late winner to hand Jose Mourinho’s men all three points at Old Trafford.

The result came just days after United defender Luke Shaw made comments suggesting that he would like to work with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino again, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Shaw not only suggested that he thinks Pochettino wants to work with him again too, but revealed that his former Southampton boss even called him his ‘son’, showing just how close they were on the South Coast.

Shaw’s performances under Pochettino for Southampton earned him a 2014 move to Manchester United, and whilst he was tipped for stardom, he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations at Old Trafford.

The left back has struggled for form and fitness, and has often been left on the sidelines by Mourinho having failed to earn his trust to play regularly in the Premier League.

Ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood has now told Sky Sports’ The Debate that he thinks Shaw will be heading to Tottenham in the near future in order to reunite with manager Pochettino again.

Sherwood claims that a deal taking Shaw to Spurs whilst sending Tottenham left back Danny Rose to Manchester United in the other way is inevitable, to the point where the teams might as well agree the deal now and get it done – though Spurs may well ask for a considerable fee alongside Shaw for Rose if a move was proposed.

“I think in the left-back area, Blind has been more of a regular,” said Sherwood. “It’s the position where Mourinho is most unsure.”

“They might as well do the swap now. Shaw is loved by Mauricio Pochettino. Danny [Rose] is loved by Mourinho. Just do the swap now and get it over and done with,” he added.
