Tim Sherwood has claimed that Daniel Levy will ‘dismiss’ rumours linking Mauricio Pochettino to Manchester United and ‘£200 million’ will not be enough to tempt the Tottenham man away from the club.

The Telegraph claims that United, who sacked Jose Mourinho on Monday and put former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in interim charge, want Pochettino to be their next permanent manager.

Pochettino recently helped Spurs secure their place in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night after they recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over rivals Arsenal.

After the match, Sherwood explained why Levy will be ‘worried’ about United’s rumoured interest but was adamant that Pochettino will remain in north London.

“Daniel Levy will be worried because it’s Manchester United, any other club in the Premier League, forget about it,” Sherwood told Sky Sports’ Debate Show on 19/12/2018 at 10:35 pm.

“I don’t think he will go. I think he is halfway through building something very special. How will Daniel [Levy] react to it? Daniel will dismiss it. You could give £200million at this present moment in time for Pochettino, Daniel Levy will turn that down.”

Tottenham appointed Pochettino as their manager in 2014 when he moved from Southampton to White Hart Lane to replace the sacked Sherwood.

Since his arrival, Pochettino has helped Spurs to a number of top-four finishes, including being runners-up to champions Leicester City in 2016.

The Argentine is yet to win a trophy with the London club, but he is set to compete in the semi-final of the League Cup next month when they play neighbours Chelsea over two legs.

At this moment in time, Spurs are sitting third in the Premier League table, six points behind current leaders Liverpool and five points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal.
